Press-A-Print: Introducing children to the business side of life while helping families work together.

Diane, Megan, Gary

Teachers and instructors are noted for vast amounts of knowledge, expertise and wisdom. The instructors at Press-A-Print University are no different. Occasionally a star instructor will make a cameo appearance as in the case when the class of July 24, 2007 met a new operator Megan from Florida, an expert on the Twisted Pen Factory.
There is only one major unique highlight about this instructor. Megan is only nine years old.
Jim and Diane came to training in Idaho Falls accompanied by their daughter Megan. Investing in their future, they added the Kids In Business portion, consisting of 3 Button Machines and the Twisted Pen Factory, for Megan.

When Megan received her Twisted Pen Factory, she read the directions and then found the best ways to produce Twisted Pens.

While at Training, Megan stole the show when she shared several unique methods of producing pen shaped designs. If the grown-ups didn’t get it she would tell or show them how to do it. For many of the new Operators this was one of the highlights of training.

Megan's Budget

30% Back Into Business
30% In The Bank
30% To Spend
10% To Their Church

One of the greatest benefits of The Press-A-Prints Kids In Business Package is that Megan and all other children will learn how to operate and manage a business as well as budgeting money.

By having Megan do her part of the business, people have become intrigued about what else Jim and Diane do. As a result, new business has developed.

All this and the fact that families can work together towards a common goal are just some of the perks of becoming a Press-A-Print Operator.

Press-A-Print is proud of the children who enjoy working and learning and the parents who take the time to teach the future business leaders of America, like Megan.

Talk to everyone...You never know...

Hey Jeff and Don:

A while back I walked into a restaurant and gave my card to the owner and told him that I was in the business to grow his business. An offer to provide shirts and jackets led him to ask if I could do a sign for him.  I said yes, of course since I had purchased the vinyl cutter in training.  It is an invaluable tool as it comes to truly being a full service supplier for our clients.

Final order for this Job was 1 – 15’x 3’ sign and 2 – 8’ x 7’ signs, 20 caps and 20 visors and orders for shirts when he needs them next. ($1300.00 and I found out later I should have charged more and he would have gladly paid it.) As it turns out he is opening 15 - 5 Buck Pizza franchises in Northern Nevada and I am now his uniform supplier and “sign guy.”  He also submitted my  ESP  Center stage presentation to the corporate office and they are considering using me for their company supplier.

Thank you so much for helping me to get set up in a truly successful home based business!

Parade T-Shirts

I took the leap of faith to do the parade tee for my home towns  4th of July Parade.  They were a real hit!!!  People loved them.  I only scratched the surface of the potential market.  I sold just over 200 shirts and only had 6 kids youth tees left at the end.  If I increase my man power next year I have a much better idea of how many to screen.  I’m so glad I swallowed my pride and did it.

No Job Too Small

Here's an interesting story:  I'm involved in running my local Homemowner's Association, so I wanted to use our little newsletter to announce our business.  One of our members contacted me about an order of thirty shirts, saying "If that's too small, I totally understand."  Too small, she asks?  My motto:  "I don't accept orders for less than ONE!"

I remortgaged a rental property my wife and I own the other day and the attorney uses pens with his name on it that he freely hands out to signees.  So, of course, I asked him about them and now I am quoting on 2,000 logo pens as I write this.  I also have closed a corporate shirt order for 60 shirts at $40.50 each!  I e-mailed a friend of mine who handles the IT responsibilities at an architectural company only to find out that his secretary orders many of our items several times a year for shows they attend all over the country.  Here's the kicker!  Today is the official opening of our business!  Happy...HAPPY New Year!

By the way... I can now see the time when I can say 'adios' to Corporate America!

Thanks Press-A-Print!

My Full Time Home Business

"I quit my full-time job the end of September and it has gone great.  All of my business is word of mouth and repeat.  I do most of my business with schools and a few restaurants.  My thing was the schools my kids went to.

What really helped was already being involved with the schools before, so everybody knew who I was already.  If it wasn't one of those schools it was friends that teach at other schools.  They would then tell the other organization at those schools and before I knew it, I was doing business with almost all of the sports and other organizations at the schools.  I'm so busy I'm not sure how I did everything and worked full-time, which is a great problem to have.  I'm to the point I think I will have to buy more equipment, so I can get more done in a shorter amount of time!"

I Love My Press-A-Print Business!

I am doing so well!  This Press-A-Print business is the best!!   I got very busy in November.  My daughter started getting me jobs from her high school.  So far, I have done shirts, hoodies, and sweat pants for the varsity cheerleaders, wrestling team, ski team, bowling, SDA (student dance association), Boys and Girls club, a Jewish youth organization (which is getting me into Bar and Batmitzvas), two fundraisers (one in Naples, FL for a cancer fundraiser, one for Home for the Heart, where local organizations fix up home interiors), my daughter's dance studio (just getting started over there, the studio is a goldmine, over 1,000 dancers and they all need stuff), and the jobs keep coming!  So far, all we’ve done is word of mouth advertising, it is so incredible!  I also spoke with the athletic director of the high school, and he wants me to do more there, and our school just won the New Jersey state high school football championship!! (They played at Rutgers stadium this year, Giants stadium last year.)  There are so many directions we can go with this.  My kids also help make the shirts, I pay them $10 an hour.  And, all of that is just with apparel, we haven’t even had a chance to set up the pad printer yet, so there’s more business to be had there too!

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we grossed over $15,000.  Not bad for just getting started.  I want to start making a steady $1000 a day (that's net by the way), pretty crazy right?  On top of it all, I’m still traveling back and forth to Reading, PA, throughout all of this.  Everyone at PAP has been so helpful! In fact, I just spoke to Phil a few hours ago on a Corel question.  My only regret is that I just wish we’d gotten started sooner with the business, but I think we will do just fine.  I don't think my husband is getting it yet.  I just keep showing him the checks!

Even with all the internet competition now with the shirts, I am finding that people want to deal with real people, not the computer, and feel special when you take the time to go over everything with them on a personal level. There is so much opportunity out there, people really have no idea.  I think the most exciting thing about this business is how kids can be involved, (mine are 13, 17, and 18, two of which came to PAP training with me).  My husband and I have been trying to teach our children to work for themselves, and this is truly a business where they have the chance to do that!  Thanks again for your support, and see you all soon at a Press-A-Print Power Training session!

Aftermath of the Brain Storm

We landed a HUGE account the other day and it all stemmed from our brain storming session that my wife and I had on our way home from Press-A-Print training.

We were talking about how lucky we were to have attended the Home & Patio Show in Jacksonville(where we found out about Press-A-Print), and decided to look into renting a booth.  As a result, my wife not only contacted the Home & Patio Show, but she also contacted the Southern Woman's Show.  As a result of her initial contact and my follow-up, we are now the Official Promotional Products Supplier for the Southern Woman's Show!

We are supplying the show with 1800 promotional products for the February Show, and are getting a booth as well.  Not only are we the Official Promotional Suppliers of the February show, but we are now the supplying all 13 shows.

The February Show has 300 exhibitors (and that’s the small show).  While there is no guarantee how many of the exhibitors will use our services, our name will go out to all of them several times.  This sure is a grand slam if all works out the way the shows representatives feel it will!

Networking Your Home Business

"Here’s an interesting experience:

Three months ago, I visited a BNI chapter, where I met another person who was also visiting the same group. Last week, he called me to ask about a personal order because he remembered I didn’t have a minimum on apparel. I went in thinking 2-3 dozen assorted tanks and t-shirts. At 9 A.M. I showed up with a personalized Sanmar flyer/catalog that I created the night before, a professional order form off that flyer, and a slew of promos and sample work I'd done on my Press-A-Print equipment. By 9:45 A.M., I had a request for quote on 600 tees and tanks, 200 embroidered hats, source information on a work line of clothes that they are interested in, and a woman's camisole item from a prior vendor,

By noon, I had a full quote on everything; by 2 P.M., I had a soft commitment and they emailed artwork to me. The next day at 2 P.M., I had a 50% deposit and approved art in my hand and ready for production. We never did discuss the personal order... he got busy.  Why did I get the order? Because I was professionally prepared, I gave a simple bottom line price per piece with "no hidden charges,” I told him it would all be ready in a week including the embroidered hats, and they liked the idea that I was local. I am able to pop into their office in 15 minutes. They like the service and attention. They are a cycle order (they order every three months) and they didn’t bat an eye at my pricing. They just want quality and attention. They were amazed they would have their order next week including the embroidered hats!

Little did I know at the time that essentially my first infomercial would generate a $7K order! It just took some time. We are starting to see the effects of networking our Press-A-Print business!"

Out of Small Things Come Great Things

"At this engineering company, I was given small jobs of printing their company logo on construction hard hats.  The job didn't amount to a big pay day.  The two to three orders I was given that year were in 10, 15, & 20 hard hats. They were not given to me all at once but spaced out during the year or whenever they needed some hats.

On their 20th anniversary in business, I was asked to provide them with possible ideas on promotional products. (By this time I had learned their logo color: "green" schemed). I took with me two www.chocolateinn.com "Thank You BusinessCard Boxes and 2 Green Dazzler pens from www.hubpen.com to give to them.  When they saw them, they were thrilled and decided to order 1000 of each.  Within a 30 minute visit, I came out with a $6000+ order!  I am still doing their small hard hat orders.  You never know what will happen when you take those small orders!  Good luck out there."

Loving My Press-A-Print Business

Isn't this a great business?

I decided to drop into the local Wienerschnitzel (Self proclaimed world's largest hot dog chain) for lunch today with my family, and left with an order for embroidered jackets and screened t-shirts!

Most interestingly of all, he has a lighted outdoor 2'x10' blank sign that he needs done in vinyl for a new pizza franchise he is putting in the location as well.  It turns out the guy owns three stores now and is putting in several new $5 pizza locations throughout the Reno area and needs all of the things that we offer!

I have the vinyl cutter that I bought from Press-A-Print, which I love by the way, so I’ll soon be on my way with that order too.  That will be a $500-$700 job itself!
